The Iceman's Game Journal

After seeing Tim's Game Diary, I started this blog to give me some incentive to actually finish some of the 461+ video games I have (of which I have finished 41.) Hope it works.

Weekly Challenges--July 1-August 6, 2006

This week's goals were hit and miss, partialy because I have been tired due to work, training, and the heat (it's been realy hot here.)

I got the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 goals and the Veiwtiful Joe goal done, but once again, I let the Warcraft goals fall by the way side.

In my defense, I had no choice as far as the Super Mario Advance goal is concerned. I went to play it after I posted last week's goals, but when I went to get it out of my pack, I found out that I had left it at my Grandparents the day before :(

Plus, like I said a few days ago (here) I got a bunch of new games last week, and I am expecting one more that I got from Ebay. Needless to say, I have been busy trying them all.

and now, on to this weeks challenges!

1.) Finish Yoshi's Island in Super Mario World.
2.) Beat Medium Difficulty in Guitar Hero.
3.) Complete 2 missions in Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
4.) Finish the first 3 scenarios in the Human Campaign of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans.
5.) Beat part 2 of Joe The Hero in Viewtiful Joe.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2--Felucia

We have been sent to the hell hole that is Felucia. If it weren't for General Secura, none of us would have made it out alive. Between the Ackleys and the Droids, we almost didn't.

After a short rest period following our extraction from Felucia, we are being sent to Kashyyyk. the CIS has set up a blockade there that must be broken by any means necessary.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2--Space Coruscant

The Separatists have attacked Coruscant and captured the Chancllor. Now the 501st have to clear a path so that Generals Kenobi and Skywalker can get to the ship and rescue him.

After a fierce battle against countless enamy star fighters, we succedded. The Chancellor was rescued, and we were given our next mission; to battle the droid army on Felucia.

Guitar Heros

I have wanted this game since I first heard about it, so when I saw it at Walmart yesterday, I had to get it. I spent 3 hours yesterday playing it, and the Toonami Trio spent a lot of time playing it last night as well. All three of them want it, and we are all ready thinking about having battle of the bands some time next month.

I just beat the game on Easy. there is still a lot to unlock, but I am well on my way to kicking eveyone elses buts simply being able to spend that much more time racticing. Now it is on to Medium, and on more step towards my position as Guitar Hero!

Viewtiful Joe--Joe the Hero part 1

I beat the first part of Episode 1 the other day, but I was busy and for got to post about it. Took me forever to beat that helicopter, but I did it.

Now on to part 2 and hopefuly a new VFX power.

Super Mario World

After trying for about a year, I finaly won Super Mario World off Ebay :) Turns out I could have gotten it from a firend the whole time, but I didn't lnow that until after I got it. Doesn't matter. The important part is I got it :)

Cheap Gaming Goodness Strikes Back

On Tuesday I was in Mankato for a job interview and while I was there, I stopped by Gamestop. I love Gamestop, because you can get some good games cheap. At the stripmall location I got Transformers and Onimusha for PS2, Resident Evil for Gamecube (the remake of the original) and GTA: london and GTA 2 for PS1.

After Gamestop, I went to Target in the mall and got Viewtiful Joe for Gamecube and Trapico and Stronghold for PC.

Next stop was the mall Gamestop, which is far inferior to the strip mall store, but I still found a game, Oni for PS2. It was $3.99, but when I got to the counter to pay, I found out that the price had dropped, they just hadn't changed it on the shelf yet. So I saved $1 :)

On the way home, I stoped by Kmart in New Ulm. They usualy had some good games for cheap and this time was no exception as I got Devil May Cry and Galactic Wrestling for PS2.

The total haul was 11 games for about $70. Can't complane about that.

Weekly Challenges--July 24-July 30, 2006

I did ok last week. I didn't finish all of the goals for this week, but I got most of them. I only got one mission in Star Wars Battlefront 2 done, and I didn't get any of the scenarios in Warcraft done, but I finished all of the other goals, and if I hadn't been tired all day yesterday (that is why I am posting this on Tuesday and not Monday) and if I had been home Saterday night and Sunday, maybe I could have finished all of the goals, but that's alright.

One goal I accomplished was on the long term list! I got all of the Gold Weapons in Ratchet and Clank, so that is one less long term goal to worry about.

Now for this week's goals.

1.) Finish the first level of Viewtiful Joe.
2.) Beat Super Mario Advance: Super Mario Bros. 2 Using Warp Zones.
3.) Complete 2 missions in Star Wars Battlefront 2.
4.) Finish the first 3 scenarios in the Human Campaign of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

Star Wars: Battlefront 2--Mygeeto

I had been sent to Mygeeto with the rest of the 501st. We had sent to destroy the power supply for their droid factories. Unknown to General Ki Adi Mundi, we were also there to acquire the power crystal used to power the droid factories. We succeeded, but General Mundi seems to have fallen. Fortunately we now know that the Jedi can be killed.

Now we must deliver the power crystal to the emperor, in the hopes that he will use it to end this war before more Jedi fall.

Ratchet and Clank--Gold Weapons

I got all of the Gold Weapons last night, but it was getting late, so I didn't post about it until now. I could have, but I had to play with them a bit:) I also watched the extras that were unlocked--some commercials and a Making of video that was kind of stupid and had very little to do with making the game.

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando--Rescue Clank

YAH! I rescued Clank! I didn't realize how much I missed the little guy until I had to go through the first few missions with out him. I had gotten so use to gliding, super jumping, ect while playing the first game that it took some getting use to not having him around.

I also got a new toy, the Multi-Star (The upgraded version of the Chopper) And when I got to Barlow, I checked the Megacorp Vendor to see what new toys were available and found out that I could afford the Seeker Gun, so I got that. I also remembered the location of one of the platinum Bolts on Endako, so I got that too.

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando--Clank's Appartment

I got to Clank's appartment a little bit ago and got my Grind Boots and Swingshot. With these I was able to get to the Modification Vendor. I didn't buy any, but I did have enough to get the Pulse Rifle. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go save Clank.

Weekly Challenges--July 17-July 23, 2006

First an update on last week's challenges, I got most of them done. Yes, once again I failed to complete the Warcraft challenge. and in case you went through the archives and are saying to yourself "I thought he finished that a while ago." you would be right, but I accidentally deleted the folder while cleaning the hard drive and now I have to start over :(

Could be worse. I could get myself stuck like I did in Metroid: Fusion. After defeating Nightmare, I did some exploring and ended up finding some Speed Boast blocks, so I broke through them and kept going. no problem right?

Wrong. there is no way to gain enough speed on the otherside to break through them again (as far as I know) and I have explored everywhere I could but keep finding red doors, which I haven't unlocked yet. like I said. I'm kind of stuck right now.

You might notice that I have myself a few less challenges this week. I want to try and get unstuck in Metroid: Fusion and try to finish up some of the Long Term Goals.

1.) Rescue Clank in Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando.
2.) Visit Clank's Apartment on Endako in Ratchet and Clank: Going Command.
3.) Complete 2 missions in Star Wars Battlefront 2.
4.) Finish the first 3 scenarios in the Human Campaign of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

Urban Dead--Level 18

I just reached level 18. I was close to 18 on Friday, but I haven't played since, so I went out, killed a Zed, and got to 18. Took Knife Fighting. Won't need it since I have a Fire Ax and Ax Fighting, but at this point the number of skills that are actually useful to me is 0.

I'm going to spend some time gathering ammo before heading to Shearbank. Shearbank has been a highly contested area since the game went live a year ago. First it was various survivor factions fighting over it, and now it seems that the Zombies have over run the place. I don't care who controls Shearbank, just as long as it isn't the Zeds.

Metroid: Fusion--Nightmare

I finally beat Nightmare! I died about a million times, but I did it! If Nightmare is an indicator of how tough the rest of the bosses are, then the SP is in for a very large amount of profanity.

Next stop, the Navigation Room to find out where I need to go next.

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando--Arena Battle

Well, I won the Arena Battle, got the Electrolyzer, Won the next arena battle and got 1500 bolts, and then I faced Chain Blade.

Chain Blade was tough. I think I died about 10 times fighting him, but I beat him, I started out circle strafing him and using Gravity Bombs when he was on the ground. When I ran out of those, I switched to the Chopper. When he took to the air, I started running towards him firing the Heavy Lancer, jumping to the side when ever he prepared to attack.

Now it is on to Megapolis on Endako to save Clank, but that will have to wait till next week's challenges :)

Now if you'll excuse me, ECW is about to start :)

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando--Jamming Array

I deactivated the Jamming Array earlier today. It took me a few tries though. Despite what I said earlier about the game being easier then last time I played these levels, this part was harder then I remember. Got plenty of bolts though. Got enough to get the Blitz Gun, which will come in handy in the Arena Battle.

I'm off to the arena now. Hopefully I can beat it before ECW starts.

weekly Challenge--July 10-July 6, 2006

Last week I posted the challenges late, so I didn't make many. This week it's back to normal with 5 new challenges.

1.) Reach level 18 in Urban Dead
2.) Finish the first 3 scenarios in the Human Campaign of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans
3.) Defeat Nightmare in Metriod: Fusion
4.) Find the jamming array on Maktar Nebula in Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
5.) Win the Arena Battle on Maktar Nebula in Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando--Oozla

I beat this level last night, but it was late and I needed to get to bed. I got the Tractor beam and the Dynamo (YEAH! TOYS!)

It was a lot easier this time. I first played Going Commando when I first got my PS2 (it was the first PS2 game I rented) and I remember that, while not real tough, it was tougher then it was this time through.

I'll post this week's challenges in a little bit

Weekly Challenges--July 3-July 9, 2006

Sorry about not updating for a while (I'm starting to sound like a broken record.) Eric, the friend who was coming to visit, got here safe, and I almost got "The Iceman" up to 75 points, but it didn't matter since Eric forgot to bring the memory card with his Smackdown VS Raw character on it. In the end, I got him to 70 points. Still lots of room for improvement, but not bad.

Since I am posting this on Thursday, I don't have time for many goals this week, so there will just be 2, both from Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando.

1.) Explore the Swamp Ruins on Oozla
2.) Find the Megacorp Store Entrance on Oozla.
