The Iceman's Game Journal

After seeing Tim's Game Diary, I started this blog to give me some incentive to actually finish some of the 461+ video games I have (of which I have finished 41.) Hope it works.

Weekly Challenge-January 29-February 4, 2007

Before anyone says I haven't been doing too great on finishing the goals, I did finish two of them. I just didn't post about finishing the Tropico goal, because I forgot how little actually happens in the first year. I actually played through 9 years last week. I also did some work on the Megaman goal, but I didn't beat Dr. Willy.

I probably could have beaten him, but I also got Mortal Kombat: Arrmagedon, and spent some time playing that instead.

On to this weeks goals. I'm going to keep playing Tropico in Sandbox mode for a while, which will be kind of boring for a goal list, so I am replacing it with Age Of Empires

On to this week's goals.

1.) Get through the Blitzball Tournament in Final Fantasy X.
2.) Defeat Dr. Willy in Megaman.
3.) Finish the first 5 scenarios in the Egyptian Campaing of Age Of Empires.

Bonus Goals
1.) Win the Blitzball Tournament.

Final Fantasy X--Kilika Cloister Of Trials

Opps. Went a little further then planned and am now docked at Luca. Along the way the whole team leveled up 5 or 6 times, got a bunch of new equipment (although I missed the Red Armlet in the temple) Fought Sin and a few Sinspawn, and defeated Lord Ochu. I think I learned the Jecht Shot as well, but I forgot to confirm it.

Now it is on to Luca, and the Blitzball Tournament.

Weekly Challenge-January 22-January 28, 2007

Man, I've been doing terrible, not only with posting new challenges and the results, but also with playing games. Except for Megaman, a half hour of Star Wars Battlefront 2, and a bit of Final Fantasy X, I haven't played much in the last couple of weeks.

In my defense, my schedule hasn't helped any. I've been working nights alot, and I usually get up later in the morning then I would like, so I wake up late, have a couple hours before work, go to work, get home, and by then there is too much stuff I want to watch. That has been a problem during the day recently as well, since History, Sci Fi, Discovory, and National Geographic have been showing some good shows during the day.

Fortunatly I've been getting more morning hours in the last couple of weeks, and I am still looking for a different job, a 9-5, Mon-Fri job. I'm getting sick of having wierd hours.

With that out of the way, time to list the new goals.

Last time, I beat the last three Robot Masters in Megaman, and now I am on my way to Willy's castle. Hopefully this week I can bring Willy to justice.

I also started to replay Final Fantasy X. Last time I played it, I got to Djose Temple, but it was so long ago that I decided to start over. I am currently at Besaid, about to leave for Luca. I have been using a stratagy guide, but only for deciding on my next goal, and also to get all the goodies hidden along the way. so far, all I've missed was a Rod of Wisdom in the Besaid Temple's Cloister Of trials.

Finaly, I've been wanting to play a good stratagy game recently, so I will start playing Tropico.

One other note, I am going to be opening a new Game Journal, this one focussing entirely on Extreme Warfare Revenge. I will post about it once I get it started.

Now on to this week's goals.

1.) Defeat Dr. Willy in Megaman.
2.) Get throught he Kilika Temple's Cloister Of Trials in Final fantasy X.
3.) Get through the first year of Tropico.

Feel Good Moment In Japan

saw this on Joystiq and thought it was kind of cool. the odds od something like this happening anywhere else are slim to none, with some exceptions. If, for example, I dropped my SP or DS at church, I would get it back, because enough people know that I bring them with me. (I usually have everything set up for Sunday School well before the kids arrive, so I sit down and play Harvest Moon, Trauma Center, or some other, family firendly game while I wait.)

There are others who have brought their hand helds to church with them, but I don't have to worry about them getting my stuff. I'm the only one with a black DS and SP :)

FPSs On Consoles

On Attack Of The show, they are talking about whether or not World Of Warcraft can kill castle gaming, and of course one guy, who is very pro-console gaming, said that it wouldn't. He said that while people would play it, they worn't going to abandon thir FPS games on consoles.

Excuse me? Where did the FPS genre originate? That's right, PC. and infact, except for Halo, the big ones are still for PC. Half-life, Quake, Doom. All ported from PC to consoles.

There are some good action games for Consoles, and while I can't get use to playing with a controller (give me a mouse and keyboard any day of the week) the place to play great FPSs is the OC.

Megaman--Beat Fireman

I know that I completed this goal, but I figured that since I just had one boss left before I got to Wiley's Castle, I might as well finish it up so that I can concentrate on defeating Wiley next week.

Took a couple of lives, but it wasn't too hard. Part of the reason it was so easy is because, right before the boss's corridor is a wide flat area with respawning Tackle Fires next to it. Three enamies, one shot each, and plenty of power ups (including a 1up :) ) ment that I went into the corridor with full weapons and energy. The corridor is lined with Screw Bombers on the ceiling, which are easy to beat. For the rest of the stage, there are plenty of Energy Capsules to be found along the way, which respawn when you move rom one screan to the next.

Fireman was easy, thanks to the Freeze Ray. I have heard that the Pause Cheat works against him, and I might try it when I face him again in Wiley's Castle, but this time I just opened fire. Only took 4 or 5 shots to take Fireman down.

Now it's time to bring Dr. Wiley to justice.

Megaman--Beat Iceman

Have I mentioned how much I hate jumping puzzles? Not only does Iceman's stage have an icy surface, making it hard to stop, but it also has a ton of jumping puzzles.

Fortunatly the Pause Cheat works great, and I now have the Freeze Ray. Next stop, Fireman's Stage, and then on to Dr. Willy's Castle.

Megaman--Beat Elecman

Glad I don't have to face Elecman again until Dr. Wiley's Castle. Forgot how fast he can move. Took a lot of lives before I beat him, but when I did, I got him twice with a single Cutter to finish him off :)

Next stop, Iceman's stage, and a chance to see if the Pause cheat from the NES version works for the Gamecube version as well.

Nerf PS2 Controllers

Saw these while exploring the Nerf website. I can't think of any cooler controllers. It combines two great things, Nerf, and Video Games.

Now if they could just fire Nerf Darts, to make multiplayer games really interesting :)

Weekly Challenge-January 8-January 14, 2007

Man I did bad. Ont only did I only get on goal half done, but I haven't even played many games in the last 2 weeks. In my defense, Between Christmas, New Years, writing, work, and dealing with some jabroni troll over on Freak Show, I haven't had much time or energy for gaming, but hopefuly I will do better this week.

Since I didn't make much progress on the last set of goas, I will try them again this week.

1.) Finish the Luigi Missions in GTA 3.
2.) Beat 2 more bosses in Megaman.
3.) Complete the next 2 missions in Star Wars Battlefront 2.
