The Iceman's Game Journal

After seeing Tim's Game Diary, I started this blog to give me some incentive to actually finish some of the 461+ video games I have (of which I have finished 41.) Hope it works.

Resident Evil 4--Assignment Ada

Finally gave myself enough time to finish Assignment Ada. Since I don't work in tomorrow (or would that be today) I decided to stay up until I beat it.

The fight against Krauser was tough. I had to check Gamefaqs to see what I was doing wrong. Turns out my plan, hold down the fire button and spray him with bullets, was a good one. Too bad the same couldn't be said for my aim. I also learned about a strategy for using the Sniper Rifle, which allowed me to take him out with only 6 shots.

I the end though, I was a little disappointed. It was shorter then I expected, and while it was challenging enough, it wasn't as good as the main game or even Separate Ways.

In addition, it added very little to the story. In the end of the final cut scene Wesker says something about using the Plagas sample to change the world and laughs maniacally as the chopper flies off. All that does is confirm a suspicion that this game sets up Resident Evil 5, which will most likely feature some sort of Plagas/T-Virus Hybrids.

And what was up with the credits? Ada spent the whole time wearing some sort of harness and Leon was wearing his Raccoon City PD Uniform.

In the end though, it was more Resident Evil 4 Action, which is a good thing.

With Assignment Ada completed, I feel good enough about this game to consider it done. Is till one weapon to unlock, and I have to finish Mercenaries, but I consider this one done. Expect a review up soon.

The Wii Is Home!

UPS dropped it off right before I went to work, so I didn't get a chance to play with it, but when I got home, I changed my cloths and hooked it back up. So far I have everything set back up, all the stuff downloaded again, ect. Have some other things to do tonight, so I might not get to play any, but I have tomorrow and Monday off, so plenty of time to play :)

Cooking Mama--Pan Fried Vegetables

Well, I finished Pan Fried Vegetables. Has some troubles with it, getting only 60 points. I will try to get a better score later.

I also tried to get a better score on Fried Chicken, but for some reason I couldn't get better then a good on the final step. Oh well, I did better then I did on the first try.

And I unlocked Chinese Sauteed Beef And Peppers.

Next up is the first of the recipes I unlocked, Fried Rice.

This week's recipe count: 3 done, 0 Gold.

Lego Universe

I can't wait till this comes out. Unfortunatly I have since it won't be out until some time in 2008

Cooking Mama--Fried Chicken

I got 91 points on this one. Dropped a few pieces while frying. It wasn't too hard, so I shouldn't have a problem getting gold on this one.

I also got 87 points on Sweet Fried Egg. Still having problems mixing and cracking the eggs, but at least I got a medal. and I got Chicken in Tomato Soup.

Next on the list is the last of the ones that were unlocked when I started the game, Pan Fried Vegetables.

This week's recipe count: 2 done, 0 Gold.

Cooking Mama--Sweet Fried Egg

I didn't do so good. Has some trouble with cracking the egg, and I burnt it while frying, but I will try again. I only got 50 points. I also unlocked Boiled Egg.

Next up, Fried Chicken.

This week's recipe count: 1 done, 0 Gold.

The Wii Is Coming Home!

Just checked my E-Mail and saw that Nintendo had sent out my Wii :) Should be here in 3-5 days. Then I can partake in more Wii goodness!

In case you were wondering, I announced back in May that I had to send it in. So why did it take so long for them to fix it? Because I just sent it in a week or so ago. Meant too earlier, but I didn't get a chance too.

But that isn't the important part. That fact that it will get here some time this week is :)

Update: I tracked the Wii and found out that it was in Eagan around 1 P.M., so it should be here tomorrow around 12:30:) I will be at work then, so if I have to sing for it, I will have to wait until Thursday, but oh well.

Weekly Challenges--June 25-July 1, 2007

I didn't do too bad last week. I only got half of the goals done. I would have finished them, but I ran into some problems. I didn't finish the Urban Dead goal because I was working on some other stuff that took priority, and I didn't finish the Resident Evil one because it turns out there are no typewriters, so I have to beat the whole level in one sitting, which is kind of hard since I never gave myself much time to beat it.

Here are this week's goals.

1.) Complete 8 recipes in Cooking Mama.
2.) Get to Oreburgh City in Pokemon Pearl.
3.) Complete Assignment Ada in Resident Evil 4.
4.) Finish the first 3 scenarios in the Egyptian Campaign in Age Of Empires.

Cooking Mama--Pork Curry and Rice

Finished Pork Curry and Rice. I didn't do that great and only got 66 points, but that is ok. I finished it and and ready to move onto the next challenge, which I believe is Sweet Fried Egg

I also unlocked Curried Pilaf

This week's recipe count: 8 done, 5 Gold.

Cooking Mama--Fried Fish

Got 100 points on my first try! I as actually a little disappointed. for some reason I thought it would be tougher.

I also got 100 on Beef Steak and unlocked Grilled Mackerel.

Next up, Pork Curry and Rice.

This week's recipe count: 7 done, 5 Gold.

Cooking Mama--Spaghetti Neapolitan

I got 78 points, mainly because of spilling some noodles and having some trouble with the final saute.

I will probably redo this one and the Beef Steak in a little bit. I also unlocked Instant Ramen. that one shouldn't be too hard.

After redoing those, it's onto Fried Fish.

This week's recipe count: 6 done, 3 Gold.

Cooking Mama--Beek Steak

Almost got a perfect score. Only got 90 points, because I messed up some while frying the meat. Since it was more of a timing issue, it shouldn't be too hard to get a perfect score.

I unlocked Pork Saute, and am now onto Spaghetti Neapolitan.

Pokemon: Pearl--Jubilife City

Got to Jubilife City earlier today. Didn't do much exploring, just enough to find the Pokemon Center and heal up my team.

Along the way I caught a Starly, a Shinx, and a Bidoof. Those three, plus my starting Pokemon, Turtwig, made a pretty good team, and after I got to Jubilife City I leveled them up to Level 7.

Not sure what to do next other then explore Jubilife City, but that can wait for next week.

Gotta Catch 'em All:
Seen: 4
Caught: 4
Badges: 0
Score: 126

Cooking Mama--Sandwich

Just finished making the Sandwich. Got 100 points on the first try :) Made a huge sandwich in the last part. managed to unlock Pizza as well.

I also redid Salisbury Steak and got a perfect score there too. Once I figured out the trick to the frying and forming parts, it was easy. and since the frying part is the same as making stock or mixing stuff in a pot, it should help me get better scores in the other ones.

Next up is Beef Steak.

Cooking Mama--Salisbury Steak

I managed to get 70 points. Had some trouble with forming the steaks and also cutting the onion (had the stylus at the wrong angle, so it didn't detect it right.) it was good enough to unlock Meatballs though.

I also redid Pork Cutlet and got 75 Points.

Next up is a Sandwich. Shouldn't be too hard.

Cooking Mama--Pork Cutlet

I finished making the Pork Cutlets and got 58 points. I had some trouble coating them, and apparently I did something wrong while frying. I will try again to get a medle (I think you have to have atleast 60 points to get bronze status.)

After completing Pork Cutlets I unlocked Fried Prawns.

I also got Gold Status on Fried Octopus Dumplings.

Next on the menu is Salisbury Steak.

Cooking Mama--Fried Octopus Dumplings

I missed the score after completing the Fried Octopus Dumplings, but I think it was 62 points. I made a mess while stiring the batter, even though I stopped stiring well before the timmer went off, and I burnt three dumplings. I am going to redo it, but first, it's time to make some Pork Cutlet.

Oh, and I unlocked Pan-Fried Batter Cake.

Weekly Challenges--June 18-June 24, 2007

I didn't get the Urban Dead goal finished, but int he easily stages of the game it is hard to level up due to lack of weaponry and ammo. I did finish the Cooking Mama goals though, and redid them, gaining a perfect score in Grilled Gyoza, 87 in Boiled Rice, and 81 in Potato Salad. I might keep trying to improve my scores, but I am at silver in all of them, so I am happy. If I get Gold Status, I will mention it.

Now on to this week's goals.

1.) Complete 8 Recipes in Cooking Mama.
2.) Get to Jubilife City in Pokemon Pearl.
3.) Get to Level 2 in Urban Dead.
4.) Complete the first 2 levels of Assignment: Ada in Resident Evil 4

Cooking Mama--Grilled Gyoza

I just finished Grilled Gyoza, and I didn't fail at anything! I ended up getting 92 points. Probably would have gotten a perfect score, but I was one short in putting stuff together. I managed to get enough made to get a silver rating though. I got a silver rating over all and unlocked Spring Roll

I also redid Potato Salad and got a score of 62 points.

Next up is Fried Octopus Dumplings, but that will have to wait till next week. In the mean time I will try to improve my score in this week's four recipes.

Cooking Mama--Potatoe Salad

This is some messed up Potato Salad. I don't like potato salad, but when I think of it, I think potatoes, onions, mayo, mustard, eggs, and maybe some celery, but not carrots and cucumbers.

Oh well. I made it. didn't see my score, which is probably a good thing. It is hard to peel the carrots and the potatoes, and I failed the mixing part because it refused to accept the fact that I had the salt over the bowl before time expired.

I also went back and redid Boiled Rice and Miso soup, getting up to 82 and 70 points respectively, and I unlocked Croquettes.

Now it's time for Grilled Gyoza.

Cooking Mama--Miso Soup

I didn't do as good on this one. I spilt some of the stock and didn't cut the tofu fast enough, but once again Mama fixed it. I ended up with a score of 40 points.

Potato Salad is up next, but that will have to wait. Good Eats and Dinner Impossible are on in a few minutes.

Cooking Mama--Boiled Rice

I got 50 Points in this one. I did good on each step except for the mixing. I made kind of a mess, but Mama fixed it. I also unlocked Fried Rice.

Now onto Miso Soup.

Weekly Challenges--June 13-June 17, 2007

Just to let everyone of my non-existent readers know, I have not abandoned this blog! I just took some time off, spending very little time playing games. the plan was to get caught up on my writing, but that didn't happen, and since I am getting back into some online games and just got Cooking Mama, I decided to say forget it and get back to gaming.

Since it is the middle of the week, I'm going to just do a couple of simple goals for this week.

So on to the challenges!

1.) Complete 4 recipes in Cooking Mama.
2.) Get to level 2 in Urban Dead.

Lego Star Wars 2

I just finished the story mode for Lego Star Wars 2. Unlike the first Lego Star Wars, I am not considering this one done. In this game you actually have a reason to go back and go through free play mode. there are a tone of areas that you can only get to with a dark force user, or a bounty hunter, or a storm trooper. In the first one I saw nothing like that. plus there are a bunch of levels that can be unlocked; 3 per episode, 10 Bounty Hunter missions, and Lego City. In the first one there was only one unlockable level.

So I have a ways to go before this one is done, but I am loving every second of it
