The Iceman's Game Journal

After seeing Tim's Game Diary, I started this blog to give me some incentive to actually finish some of the 461+ video games I have (of which I have finished 41.) Hope it works.

Red & Rotten In The Desert--Final Fantasy XII

YAY!!!! I finished my first quest!

It was also my first hunt. Had to hunt down the Rotten Tomato that had been tormenting travelers in the Eastersand. I got the hunt from Tomaj. I went out, fought some Wolfs and Cactoids, defeated the Rotten Tomato and made it back in time for the parade to introduce the new Lord Consul, Vayne. He mad a good speach and won several of the citizens of Rabanastre over, but there is something I don't trust about him. He sounded alot like the guy that arrested Basch after the king's assasination.

Over all it was a food quest. Got soem loot I can sell, 300 Gil, 2 Potions, a Teleport Stone, an earth stone, and the Orrachea Armlet. Now onto the next quest. I hear there is a monster terrorizing the Westersands as well. Might have to hunt it down.

The Fall Of Dalmasca--Final Fantasy XII

After a cool opening movie (Nice to see it start with a wedding and go down hill from there, and the dog fight part was cool too.) I took control of Reks, a member of Captain Basch. L:earned how to do most of hte basics in the game and fought my way through Nalbina Fortress to stop the assasination of the king. When I got there I found my fellow soldiers dead, as well as the king, who had been murdered by Basch, who then killed Reks. Afterwards, the Archadian Empire took over Dalmasca, Basch was exacuted, and Princess Ashe, the last member of the royal family, commited suicide.

Chapter 1--Code Lyoko

YAY! A tutorial level!

Not much to report here. learned the controls in adventure mode, controling Ulrich as he walked around the school. then it was time to go to Lyoko, where I got to play as all the characters except Jaremie, since he never goes to Lyoko. learned how to fight as each of them, how to use their powers, and in the end deactivated the tower. No return to the past, but then nothing bad happened either, so it wasn't needed, which is good since they make X.A.N.A. stronger.

Rescue Alison Crestmere--X-Men Legends

After the intro movie, I took control of Wolverine and followed The Blob's trail of destruction...and foot prints. Doesn't exactl;y take a master tracker to find this guy.

As I battled my way through Manhattan, I thought I found Cyclops, but it was Mystique in disguise. I fought her, teamed up with the real Cyclops, and fought my way through an army of Brotherhood thugs until I finaly found Blob. Switched to Cyclops to blast him from a distance while wolverine got up close and personal and we managed to beat him. Rescued Alison fought our way across the roof tops and made it to the X-Jet in one piece.

Along the way I unlocked a comicbook giving Wolverine +2 to strike and agility as well as the Teamwork 101 program for the Danger Room.

The Aegean Sea--God Of War

After fighting legions of the undead on the deck of the ship, I headed below deck and fought the first of the Hydra heads, battling it until I was able to spear it with my swords and slam it's head against the hull several times, driving it off. Looking out through a hole in the hull, I saw two more Hydra heads attacking other ships and wondered how many more I would have to face before this battle was over.

Continuing though the ship, I encountered Harpies The winged pests were all over the place, and I took great joy in ripping their wings from their bodies, much as a child would with a fly. My enjoyment was interrupted when a Hydra head burst through the deck, driving off the Harpies. It tried to eat me and it took all my strength to force open it's mouth to escape. In the end I was able to drive it's head into the deck, forcing it to retreat.

I made my way via a downed mast to a nearby ship. I thought about helping some sailors that were fighting a Hydra head, but chose not to. Their deaths would serve to distract the beast until I could destroy it. Once on the next ship I learned that the Undead could use bows. The cowardly crew were cowering in fear as arrows rained down upon them, resigned to their fate. I contemplated sending one of them to the gods as he bemoaned their imminent death, but an arrow from our attackers sent him to Poseidon before I could draw my swords. Slowly I made my way across the deck, dodging arrows and moving a crate so that I could reach the foul creatures. When I managed to climb to their level, I made sure they would regret ever leaving the fiery halls of Hades.

As I continued through the the ship, I heard a woman screaming. Heading towards the sound, I found the door to the captain's quarters locked. The women must have locked themselves inside to avoid the massacre. After all the things I had done int he past, I had to find a way to save them in the hopes of receiving some redemption from the gods.

I climbed my way up the nets to the top of the mast, battling the Undead as I went. Once on top I found that someone had sent a rope across to the next ship. That was nice of whatever simpleton decided to do it, as it allowed me to get to the final ship, where the Hydra was attacking.

As I made my way through the ship, Lord Poseidon appeared before me. He tasked me with destroying the Hydra and granted me his power. His rage. After destroying several more of the Undead, I made my way above deck where the crew, including the captain, was fighting the main head of the Hydra, as well as two smaller ones. They said that no matter how many times they killed the smaller ones, the main one kept healing them. The captain tried to run but was eaten by the Hydra. serves the coward right for running, but he had the key to his quarters. Which meant I had to kill the Hydra and hope I could find the Captain's body inside of it if I wanted to rescue the women trapped in his quarters.

I battled the smaller heads, using Poseidon's rage against them and weakening them until they collapsed tot he deck. Looking up, I had an idea. Before they could recover I climbed the near by crates and drove the loading cranes through their necks, pinning them to the deck but not killing them. With the smaller heads dealt with, it was time to face the main one.

I climbed to the top of the mast, but the wind from the Hydra's scream nearly sent me into the sea. I had no idea how I would defeat this beast, but as I struggled to stay on the mast, I had and idea. I fought against it and managed to land several blows, using Poseidon's Rage against it and slamming it's head into the mast, splintering it. Then, as the beast stood stunned, I drove my swords into it's upper jaw and pulled, impaling it upon the splintered mast. I held on as it struggled to free itself until it breathed it's last.

As I entered the Hydra's open mouth, I heard the Captain screaming for help. I found him and managed to catch him before he fell. He thanked me for saving him, but I cared not for his life. Tearing the key from around his neck, I let him fall to his death before leaving to return to his quarters.

Looking around I saw that there was another rope connecting the two ships. I knew not what idiot thought having two such ropes was a good idea, but it made the task of returning to the other ship that much easier. or so I thought.

Arriving on the ship, I was in the same area that the Undead Archers had plagued me before. They had returned, and this time they brought their sword wielding brethren with them. I made short work of them and proceeded to the captain's quarters. But I was too late. the creatures had made it inside and I was greeted by a blood bath. I destroyed the creatures, but as I stood looking upon the mutilated bodies of the slaughtered women, I couldn't help but think of the atrocities I had committed in the past. visions of these past misdeeds had plagued me for the past ten years and I yearned for freedom from them.

In time a ship arrived to rescue what few survivors there were, as well as the statue of Athena that I kept on the bow of my ship. On night I went to her, once again begging fro release from the past that tormented me. She said I had one last task. Ares had attacked Athens, ordering that it be destroyed. Zeus had decreed that the Gods must not battle each other. Athena assured me that if I defeated Ares, I would be free. With no other options and freedom with in my grasp, I set sail for Athens, and what I was sure would be my most difficult battle yet. A battle with the god of war himself, Ares.

Henry VS Kennedy VS Iceman at Armageddon--Smackdown VS Raw 2007

The month started out fine. I took on Ken Kennedy and beat him in 6 minutes. could have beaten him faster, after all I connected with the Ice Device twice, busting him open, but I wanted to make him pay for what he was saying during the introductions. so after connecting with a Whisper In The Wind, I nailed him with the Grand Slam and a third Ice Device to get the win. Of course he complained about how I lacked respect in him.

Didn't do as well the next week. Lost to Mark Henry. He's bigger, stronger, and several of my best moves didn't work on him, so I had to switch to a hit and run strategy midway through the match. By then it was to late the damage had been done and he got the win. But it wasn't over yet because then he and Kennedy teamed up and he held me while Kennedy nailed me with the time keepers bell.

I teamed up with Matt Hardy to take on Henry and Kennedy a week later and managed to get the pin while Hardy kept Henry busy outside the ring. They fought their way to the back while I grabbed the bell and got some payback for the beating I suffered the previous week.

A week later it was time to face Henry in a table match. Before the match Kenendy was shooting his mouth off and started insulting Henry, who obviously didn't like it and sent Kennedy through a table. The match itself was brutal, but I used what I learned last time I faced him to win, weakening him with Spears and Dropkicks. I nailed him with the Ice Device and sent him out of the ring while I set up a table. When he got back in I was ready and sent him through with a Droptoe Hold to pick up the win.

That set us up for Armageddon, where I would face both Mark Henry and Ken Kennedy.Henry and I spent most of the tine beating up Kennedy, but after a while I started focusing on Henry, knowing I would have to weaken him if I wanted to win. In the end I planted Kennedy with a German Suplex, followed by the Ice Device to Henry before I pinned Kennedy to win.

After the match, I won the Armageddon trophy and unlocked the Shane-O-Mac package, allowing me to buy Shane McMahon.

Win Survivor Series--Smackdown Vs Raw 2007

With Raw having a three to two advantage, I had no idea how I was going to win this one, but in spite the fact that the ref was favoring Team Raw and my own partner attacking me (which worked out really well for the story line leading into the match) Team Smackdown managed to pull off the win. After leveling John Cena with a Spear, I sent him to the mat with the Ice Device and went for the pin, but I was too close to the ropes. everyone entered the ring and while Batista was dealing with Triple H and Ric Flair, I managed to knock Cena out of the ring. With the ref counting, I stood there, waiting for him to get up and knocking him back down with Spear after Spear. when the ref got to 8 Triple H started heading towards me and I retreated to the ring as Cena got to his feet as the ref reached 9. I backed up, ready to Spear Cena again, certain that he would make it back to the ring before the 10 count, but as he reached for the bottom rope, the ref reached 10 and called for the bell, giving the win to Team Smackdown.

After the match Booker T was talking to Shane McMahon on the phone until Teddy Long walked up to him, flanked by me and Batista, both armed with lead pipes :)

By winning the match I earned the Survivor Series trophy for my locker room and unlocked the Hard Foundation Package, allowing me to buy Bret Hart and "The Anvil" Jim Neidhart in Shopzone.

looks like my next storyline might be even tougher though. I think I'm taking on Mark Henry, the Strongest Man In The World.

The Valley Of Death--Ghost Rider

Man I sucked at this one. Another cycle stage, and I upgraded the Spirit gauge to max, the Hellshot to max, and started working on building up the link charge. The main problem i had during this level was simply the fact that, for some reason, the controls weren't that good. there were plenty of times I should have made it over a jump or under something, but for whatever reason the command didn't go through in time. A few times I hit it late, but not that often.

Oh well. Levels over. Now to find Lilith.

A New Face In Town--Ghost Rider

That was a fun level. Made my way through San Vengansa, fighting old enemies as well as new. Figured out some new combos and reached Vengeance status on two separate occasions. Would have reached it a couple more times, but those damn spitters kept knocking me down.

Got to keep searching though. Lilith is here somewhere.

Hell Scraper Duel--Ghost Rider

A boss fight against Vengeance, and it's on our bikes! I upgraded the Hellshot to level two (homing shots) and just fired away, hitting Vengeance several times and slowing him down so I could get along side him and hit him with my chain. In less then 2 minutes (1:30 to be exact) Vengeance was defeated and made it out of hell.

Now to get back to San Venganza.

Meet The Devil--Ghost Rider

Kicked more demon but, killed 2 or 3 more Terrosmiths, upgraded my health to max and my spirit gauge to one level below max.

Not bad for one level.

Hell's Highway--Ghost Rider

That was fun. Short, but fun. Only wiped out a few times, which surprised me, but in the end I cleared the level.

Now to figure out how to get out of here.

Arrival In Hell--Ghost Rider

Pretty god for a tutorial level on easy. Lots of enemies to fight, decent challenge level, and a challenging (for a tutorial level) boss. Used a finisher on him (weaken him till you can grab him) and GR blew Terrorsmith's demonic brains out.

I also got the Double-Handed Spin move, which came in handy quite a few times.

Now to hop on the Hellfire Cycle and get the hell out of here, literally.

Unlock Rocky Mountain Cross-Country 1--Mountain Bike Adrenaline

Got a bronze medal on Downhill 2 to unlock Cross-country 1. There was less obstacles this time that caught me, and I will get better next play through. To tell the truth, this was the first time I played that track.

as annoying as some of the stuff in this game is, there are some very good points in it. for example I would love to rid e the trails in it. maybe not at the speeds you take some of the stuff in the game, but it would still be fun.

Unlock Rocky Mountain Downhill 2--Mountain Bike Adrenaline

Finally unlocked my first unlockable in this game. Not too hard, since all you need is a medal to unlock the Rocky Mountain Downhill 2 track, but the game makes it harder then it should. There have been so many times when I stopped from a drop that I should have been able to keep riding from, with out stopping, was stopped by stuff that, at the speed I was going, should have been able to ride over no problem, or was stopped because i was on a rock and had to pedal a lot to get over it, when in real life you could have just leaned forward and rolled off of it. this is an advanced review and will be restated when (if) I beat the game, but if you see someone charging more then the $10 I paid for this one, walk away. or get Downhill Domination. that one is a lot of fun and has a much better soundtrack/graphics engine.

I'm going to keep playing it thought, for 1 reason and 1 reason only. There aren't really any other options when it comes to mountain bike video games.

Ok, 2 reasons, the other being I want to unlock Free Ride mode, which is the reason I got this damn game in the first place.
